Sesame screening generally refers to screening out the sand in sesame or the carbon residue in sesame after roasting. In addition, farmers who plant sesame and sesame shells separately and grow small areas of sesame will dry the sesame shells and let the sesame come out by themselves. However, this is obviously not suitable for farmers who grow sesame on a large scale. Not only is the workload large, but it also increases the production cost.

The small and light broken pods, stems and powder of sesame can be blown out by wind selection. Those that cannot be blown out by wind are screened by a vibrating screening machine. Because the mesh size of each layer of the screen is different, the sesame mixture can be divided into three levels. 

The first level is impurities larger than sesame, such as some pods. Stems, and soil lumps are separated out. The second level is clean sesame. The third level is impurities smaller than sesame, generally broken powder, sand, grass seeds and other impurities.
