Polyacrylamide (PAM) is divided into anionic polyacrylamide, cationic polyacrylamide, zwitterionic polyacrylamide and nonionic polyacrylamide. It is a water-soluble linear polymer substance, which is polymerized from the monomer acrylamide. The product is a white powder, easily soluble in water, almost insoluble in general organic solvents such as benzene, ether, esters, acetone, etc. Its aqueous solution is almost a transparent viscous liquid, which is non-hazardous, non-toxic and non-corrosive. Solid PAM is hygroscopic, and the hygroscopicity increases with the increase of ionicity.
Screening of polyacrylamide
The purpose of screening: to remove small particles in the granulated product to ensure that the product particles are good-looking and meet the requirements of the finished product!
1. Production process: granulation (the product at this time is like white particles as big as soybeans) - Enter the crusher---carry out the required screening;
2. The crushed polyacrylamide is somewhat like coarse salt, with irregular particles, moist and less corrosive;
3. Screening mesh: 16 mesh, 24 mesh, 40 mesh, 60 mesh, 80 mesh, etc.; screen standard B;
4. The purpose of screening: it is a simple classification. There is no strict requirement for the screening specifications. The screen can have a deviation of 2 mesh up and down;
5. Most of the equipment uses two layers of screens and three outlets. At this time, the middle is generally the finished product, and the coarse material on the top enters the secondary crushing; some also use one layer, and all the coarse and fine parts are finished products or the fine part is the finished product;
6. Matters needing attention for equipment: *Using a stamping mesh with a coarse wire diameter screen above 60 mesh is better, because this material is corrosive, and customers do not like the mother-and-child mesh; *If the customer wants a granular finished product, there is a 5mm material layer at the outlet of the middle screen; *Simply speaking of industry demand, the equipment material can be carbon steel or 304 stainless steel, if according to material characteristics 304.
The function of polyacrylamide
1. Flocculation: PAM can make suspended matter flocculate through electrical neutralization, bridging adsorption.
--- Because of this characteristic, it is often used as a water purifier to flocculate impurities in the treated water to achieve the purpose of purification.
2. Adhesion: It can act as an adhesive through mechanical, physical and chemical effects.
--- This characteristic is also one of the raw materials for papermaking, finished products and petroleum additives.
3. Resistance reduction: PAM can effectively reduce the friction resistance of the fluid. Adding a trace amount of PAM to the water can reduce the resistance by 50-80%.

4. Thickening: PAM has a thickening effect under both neutral and acid conditions. When the pH value is above 10℃, PAM is easily hydrolyzed. When it is a semi-net structure, the thickening will be more obvious.

Application industry
Cationic polyacrylamide is positively charged in acidic or alkaline media. It usually has a lower molecular weight than anionic or nonionic polyacrylamide. Its performance in clarifying sewage is mainly obtained through charge neutralization. The function of this type of flocculant is mainly to flocculate negative charges, and it has the functions of turbidity removal and decolorization. In the treatment of wastewater from alcohol plants, monosodium glutamate plants, sugar factories, meat products factories, beverage factories, printing and dyeing factories, the effect of using cationic polyacrylamide is several times or dozens of times higher than that of using anionic polyacrylamide, nonionic polyacrylamide or inorganic salts, because this type of wastewater generally carries a negative charge. Cationic polyacrylamide is suitable for special sludge dewatering machinery such as high-speed centrifuges, belt filter presses, plate and frame filter presses, and has the characteristics of fast floc formation, coarse flocs, resistance to extrusion and shearing, good agglomeration, and easy separation from filter cloth. Therefore, the dehydration rate is high, the filter cake contains low liquid, and the dosage is small, which can greatly reduce the user's use cost. It can also be used in liquids such as hydrochloric acid and medium-concentration sulfuric acid to separate and purify the suspended substances contained therein. Therefore, this product is widely used in sludge dehydration treatment in urban sewage treatment plants, breweries, food factories, tanneries, paper mills, petrochemical plants, oil fields, metallurgy, chemical industry and cosmetics.
